Chatham-created heart shaped blue sapphires are not fakes, they are REAL blue sapphires grown by the flux method in a laboratory. They grow in the natural crystal structure of mined sapphires, so they exhibit the same physical, optical and chemical properties as mined blue sapphires. 

Sapphires are doubly refractive and often exhibit pleochroism, the visible display of different body colors from different angles. Chatham lab grown blue sapphires often show blue and violet pleochroic colors. Our heart shaped Chatham gem quality blue sapphires come in three hues: light, medium and dark.
