Chatham Trillion Blue Sapphires

Lab grown trillion blue sapphires

Chatham Blue Sapphire CrystalChatham created trillion blue sapphires are just as beautiful as some of the worlds most valuable mined sapphires. Blue sapphires are doubly refractive and often exhibit pleochroism…the visible display of different body colors from different crystal directions in a gem. Typically, Chatham created blue sapphires show violet and blue pleochroic colors.

We stock Chatham sapphires in medium tone, but some light and dark tones may be available. Medium tone is considered top color. The medium tone blue sapphires have a gorgeous blue body color with slight violetish undertones. They also have nice light return. Light Chatham created blue sapphires have more brilliance. But they are lighter in tone with more violet. Dark Chatham sapphires have deep blue body color. They have less violet, but also less light return.

Chatham lab grown trillion blue sapphires are not cheap flame fusion sapphires. They grow in the natural crystal habit, shown left, in a controlled environment. Because they are carefully grown, you can expect your Chatham created blue sapphire to have gorgeous color and consistent quality. All Chatham sapphires are gem quality with no inclusions visible to the naked eye.

Trillion Size/Weight Chart

Pictures not actual size. Sapphire is denser than diamond, so it weighs more for the same physical size. Because carat is a measurement of weight, not size, it’s important to order colored stones based on physical size rather than carat weight.

Our Work In Madagascar

Changing lives for children and their families

We get our hands dirty!

In 2014 Michelle went to Madagascar to learn about the geology and mineralogy of the country. She was excited to visit some of the mining localities she learned about in her studies to be a Graduate Gemologist. However, it wasn't the sparkly colorful gems that caught her eye. Rather, it was the children...the little gems of Madagascar. Michelle founded www.GemsOfMadagascar.org in 2015. She visits Madagascar for about two months each year doing humanitarian projects, including clean water, sanitation, education and hygiene.
